The Austin area has just barely avoided violating federal ozone air quality standards. With the conclusion of the ozone season in Austin on October 31, the Austin area’s ozone design value of 75 parts per billion maintained compliance with the 2008 ozone standard of 75 parts per billion (ppb) for a third year in a row, but the area was just one day away from violating the standard.
